The MetroNews Radio Network, a division of WVRC Media, is looking for the next addition to our award-winning news department. We are hiring an anchor/multi-media reporter for our Charleston, WV office.

The individual will be responsible for statewide and local newscasts, coverage of scheduled and breaking news events, preparations for The Morning News news block, website updates and talk show appearances.

The candidate should be self-motivated, have the ability work under deadline pressure and committed to producing high quality journalism utilizing modern equipment.

The ideal candidate should have a degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications, or other related field and at have least two years of radio, TV or multi-media experience.

WVRC Media in Beckley has a part-time job opening for an office assistant. Hours are Monday through Friday 10AM-2PM. Must be able to use basic Microsoft office programs such as Word and Excel. Duties will include assisting the billing department, general office duties, such as answering the phones, filing, and assisting the GM and Business Manager as needed. Prior media sales experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide advertising solutions and marketing strategies for local businesses.
• Present the products and services of WVRC Media, including audio, digital, and video
• Identify prospective business opportunities with new and existing customers
• Establish and maintain communication with customers to ensure strong customer relations
• Continually increase knowledge and understanding of marketing tools, techniques, and strategies

Requirements:

• Understanding of fundamental marketing and advertising principles
• Prior sales experience in sales and/or media is preferred, but not required
• Must have reliable transportation
• Present and communicate in a highly professional manner
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Need to be organized with strong time management skills
• Possess proven analytical problem solving solutions for the customer and the company
• Computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications
• Strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skills
• Self-Motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed goals
